Project: A Vacation Residence
This project is a collaboration with La Lucertola, Architects & Builder, Todos Santos, Mexico. This remote southern baja location imposes limited material choices and construction techniques. Everything except for the plumbing, lighting and appliances are fabricated in the local region.
The client desired a colorful traditionally influenced design that provides continues views of the ocean to the west and mountains to the east. The 2,300 sq.ft. residence sits on a 1/2 acres of land that is covered with indigenous plants and natural terrain.
The driveway leads to an entry courtyard placed on the east side of the property. The courtyard willcontain a vibrant garden and water fountain. The building is skewed to maximize the views to the ocean.
The first floor of the house contains all the main entry, common living areas and 2 guest bedrooms. Pergolas' off the guest bedrooms and living spaces provide filtered light and a cool retreat from the intense sun. A small plunge pool and fire-pit are placed adjacent to the ground floor living ares.
The 2nd floor contains the master suite with exterior private/public terraces. The master suite will faces the ocean and long sunsets.
Completion set for July 2011.
